How do I split an expense into installments?
When adding an expense, you can use Installments to spread the amount across multiple periods.
Choose the number of installments allowed by your plan and review the result before saving.
fAInance includes the installments in the relevant periods while keeping them linked to the original expense.
How do I create a monthly budget?
Go to the Budget section.
Enter your expected monthly income or available budget.
Allocate amounts across categories or spending areas. The app will compare your plan with your actual expenses.
How does Planned Savings work in the Budget?
In Budget, you can specify how much you want to set aside during the selected period.
Planned Savings is shown together with income, expenses and balance so you can see how much of your budget you want to keep.
You can update the amount whenever your goals or available funds change.
Can I split Planned Savings into multiple items?
Yes. You can create multiple savings sub-items for different purposes.
For example, you can separate holidays, an emergency fund, future purchases or other goals.
The total of the sub-items contributes to Planned Savings in your Budget.
How do I compare the Budget with another period?
Open Budget and use Compare with.
You can compare the period you are viewing with another available period.
The comparison helps you understand how income, expenses, balance and planning have changed.
What is the Standard Budget?
The Standard Budget is the reference setup you can use as the basis for your budget periods.
It lets you start from an existing structure without rebuilding your plan from scratch every time.
You can still edit the Budget for an individual period whenever needed.
How do I create a savings goal?
Go to More, then Goals.
Create a new goal by entering its name, target amount and amount already saved.
Update your savings over time to track your progress.
How do I manage a shared expense?
Go to More, then Share.
Create a project, add participants and record expenses.
For each expense, specify who paid and who shares the expense.
How do categories work in Share projects?
Each Share project can have dedicated categories created by the project owner.
Project categories remain shared among participants and provide a consistent way to classify project expenses.
Each participant can then choose how to map them to their own personal categories.
Can I map a Share category to one of my personal categories?
Yes. You can map a Share project category to one of your personal categories.
The mapping is personal: each participant can choose a different mapping without changing the shared project category.
If you do not set a specific mapping, the default category selected in Share settings is used.
What is Share’s default “Other” category?
In Share Settings, you can choose the personal category to use as the default destination.
It is applied to Share expenses that you have not mapped to a specific personal category.
This keeps shared expenses classified even when no dedicated mapping exists.
How are Share statistics calculated?
Your Share statistics are based on the portion of the expense that belongs to you.
They are not based only on who actually paid upfront.
This way, the statistics reflect your actual financial share within the project.
How do I add a receipt to a Share project?
Open the Share project and start adding an expense from a receipt.
The camera is offered as the primary option so you can photograph the receipt immediately. When available, you can also use an existing image.
Review the detected data and complete the participants, shares and category before saving.
What can the AI Agent do?

The quality of the analysis also depends on the data available in the app and the data-access level you selected in Settings.

Choose which cards to display based on the information you want to check most often.
The number of available widgets depends on your active plan.
Automation, periods, Tools and data management.
What is the difference between a calendar month and a financial month?
A calendar month follows the calendar, from the first to the last day of the month.
A financial month can start on the day you choose, so your budget period can better match your salary, direct debits or other personal needs.
This choice affects how fAInance groups and compares data across periods.
How do I set the start day of the financial month?
Go to Settings, in Metrics & Budget Period.
Select financial month and choose the day on which the new period should start.
If a month does not contain the selected day, fAInance automatically adjusts the end or start of the period to the available calendar days.
What happens to my data if I change the budget period?
Transactions you have already recorded are not deleted or duplicated.
Only the period in which they are grouped and displayed changes in screens that use the calendar or financial month.
After the change, fAInance recalculates period views according to the new setting.
How do Automatic Rules work?
Automatic Rules let you apply actions to transactions when specific conditions are met.
Rule creation is organized into three steps: When, If and Then.
Define when the rule should be evaluated, any conditions, and what fAInance should do when the rule matches.
Can I use multiple conditions or actions in the same rule?
Yes. A rule can include multiple conditions and, where supported, multiple actions.
When you add more than one condition, you can define the logic required for the rule to apply.
This lets you create more precise automations without having to create many very similar rules.
How do I test an Automatic Rule before using it?
While creating or editing a rule, you can use Test Rule or Test.
Testing helps you verify that the conditions and actions produce the expected result before relying on the rule.
You can edit the rule and test it again before saving it.
Can I disable an Automatic Rule without deleting it?
Yes. You can enable or disable a rule while keeping it in the list.
A disabled rule remains saved but is not applied until you enable it again.
You can also edit, duplicate, test or delete it when you no longer need it.
What are fAInance Tools for?
The Tools section contains utilities for everyday money management.
The Calculator and Currency Converter are available.
Results can be reused directly in fAInance features without entering them again manually.
How do the Calculator and Currency Converter work?
The Calculator supports standard operations and parentheses.
In the Converter, the conversion updates as you type the amount, and you can view your conversion history.
Once you have the result, you can choose to use it in other app features.
Can I create a transaction or Share expense directly from Tools?
Yes. From Tools, use Create Transaction to transfer the result into a new transaction.
You can also choose Add to Share and select the Share project where you want to use the amount.
Before saving, you can complete or edit all transaction details.
What is the difference between “Replace” and “Merge” during import?
Replace uses the imported file as the new data base instead of the existing data for the selected operation.
Merge adds or combines imported data with data already in the app, according to the app’s import rules.
Before continuing, always check the selected option and keep an up-to-date backup.
Can I use Google Drive to import or export data?
Yes. In Import / Export, you can use the available options to work with Google Drive.
For longer operations, fAInance shows progress so you can see when the process is complete.
For important data, it is a good idea to keep an up-to-date backup copy.

How does data sync work across my devices?
When you use the same account, fAInance can sync changes to your data in the cloud and make them available on your other connected devices.
Sync works on the changes that are needed, so you do not have to manually export and import your entire archive after every update.
To see the latest data, make sure the device is online and signed in with the same account.
What happens if I use fAInance without an internet connection?
You can continue using features that do not require an active connection, and data is kept on the device according to the app’s normal behavior.
When the connection becomes available again, fAInance can finish syncing changes that still need to be sent to the cloud.
Avoid uninstalling the app or clearing its data while you have changes that have not yet synced.
What should I do before changing phones or reinstalling the app?
Make sure you are signed in to your account and allow data sync to finish.

What data can the AI Agent use?
The AI Agent uses the data you have authorized in Settings.
You can choose between Full, Medium and Limited, which determine how much information can be considered in the analysis.
You can change this setting at any time. A more limited level reduces the data available to the AI Agent and may make its answers less detailed.
